Karinya Place
Carinity can confirm that a member of staff at our Karinya Place aged care home at Laidley has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). The staff member is currently in quarantine at home and did not work while experiencing any symptoms. A resident and a small number of staff who had contact with the affected staff member have been advised by Carinity and Queensland Health and are now self-isolating as a precaution. Testing of residents and staff commenced overnight and will continue today.
Carinity’s number one priority is providing a safe home for our residents and a safe workplace for our team. Staff have been adhering to strict hygiene protocols and social distancing measures since March and have been well trained in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) which they have been using in accordance with State Health Directives.
We are working closely and Queensland Health and the Australian Government Department of Health to prevent the spread of infection within the facility. We are also providing regular updates to residents, their families and our staff and will do so until we have confirmation that Karinya Place is clear of the virus.
