Karinya Place resident Vera celebrates 103rd birthday

Carinity Karinya Place resident Vera Scheiwe celebrated her 103rd birthday on August 9.

Vera’s son Neville, daughter Carol and son-in-law Selwyn joined her for a birthday lunch and cake at her home at the aged care community in Laidley.

Vera is a Lockyer Valley girl, through and through.

Born in Gatton during World War II and spending most of her life in nearby Plainlands, Vera worked on the family farm.

Part of a family of nine, she later married Ernie, a farmer. Together they had three children and “have too many grandchildren to count”.

Over the years Vera’s hobbies have included knitting, sewing, dancing, gardening, and arts and crafts.

Another Carinity Karinya Place resident, Ivy Clark, turned 105 years old in March.
