Interim CEO’s message
This year Carinity has had many milestones to celebrate, each prompting us to give thanks and rejoice in the achievements of our people.
The anniversaries began with our Carinity Narangba counselling centre celebrating 20 years. This service helps children and young people understand their behaviours, develop coping skills, and grow into happy adults.
Carinity Education Glendyne opened 25 years ago. The school supports young people who faced barriers to learning, or have not found success in traditional schools, to achieve positive educational outcomes.
Fifty years ago saw the genesis of what is now called Inside Out Prison Chaplaincy, which brings pastoral care to people inside the state’s prisons.
I was delighted to attend a 20th anniversary function for Carinity Shalom aged care. Around 180 residents, family, staff, volunteers, and community members celebrated this important service for seniors.
The celebrations continued with Carinity Wahroonga counselling centre marking 30 years of supporting the wellness and mental health of young people.
We expanded our portfolio of services in regional Queensland. High demand for Carinity Education Rockhampton’s schooling model led to a junior campus being opened at Mt Chalmers. We also opened Sunflower House, offering disability respite and short-term accommodation to Kalbar and surrounding areas.
These major milestones allow Carinity and our valued staff team the opportunity to be thankful for those who have positively impacted many lives before us – and aspire to uphold their legacy of care and service.
As the Carinity team members serve, we have encouragement from the Bible in Acts 20:35 (TPT): “We must always cherish the words of our Lord Jesus who taught ‘Giving brings a far greater blessing than receiving’.”
With Christmas approaching I would like to sincerely thank you all for your support of Carinity during 2023, and wish you much joy and many blessings for 2024.
DAVID ANGELL, Interim Carinity CEO
