Country music star on song at rural Cedarbrook

Carinity Cedarbrook residents have been treated to a special private concert by award-winning Western Australian country musician Jonny Taylor during his Queensland tour.

The special acoustic performance by the Australia’s Got Talent and Toyota Star Maker finalist featured songs from his acclaimed new album Dig Deep and covers of popular tunes by the likes of Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash.

Jonny also chatted to the audience about life in his tiny rural home town Dumbleyung – population around 200 – and performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and touring with Australian country music icon James Blundell.

One of Australia’s busiest and hardest working singer-songwriters, Jonny averages 180 shows across the country annually.

Cedarbrook Residential Manager Kathy Nicholls says the residents were excited that the musician, who drove more than 4000km for his tour of Australia’s east coast, gave them a special private performance.

“They were grateful that Jonny had travelled so far to perform for them and have photos taken with him. At Cedarbrook we often have musicians perform for the residents but we’ve never had a singer from as far away as Western Australia visit us,” Kathy says.

With a country feel and state-of-the-art hotel-style amenities at Mudgeeraba, Cedarbrook is the Gold Coast’s newest aged care community – and the first in Australia to incorporate a working horse and cattle farm.

“Cedarbrook offers the tranquillity and privacy of semi-rural living, so much so that residents can watch from their suites as horses and cattle graze on the adjoining Cedarbrook Farm,” Kathy says.

The community’s 96 suites are situated across three levels with sweeping views of the farm. Each floor features kitchen hubs and a dining lounge, with delicious meals and sweets created fresh daily by an on-site chef.
