CEO Message – Belong Edition 26

As we all know, change is inevitable. It is one of the immutable laws of life. Many of us take comfort in the familiar and the routine. Change is often something that is thrust upon us rather than something we actively seek.

As English writer Alan Watts noted: “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”

When their circumstances are altered and people face upheaval in their lives, Carinity is there to impart advice, give support, and help manage that change. Our expert staff know how to guide people through their developing life circumstances. Our counsellors; nurses offering residential or in-home care; teachers; and chaplains in hospitals, aged care, schools and prisons are all there to walk with people through the toughest of times.

Often issues caused by change are met with innovative responses. The evolving global COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how adaptable our aged care services and our workers are. By adapting to changes forced by the pandemic, our staff have helped to minimise the impact of the virus on residents living in our seniors’ communities and other clients who rely on our services.

Over the past two years we have often heard the term ‘new normal’ in reference to how people now live in a world transformed by COVID-19. Please pray that the qualities exemplified to us by our Lord Jesus – love, compassion, patience and empathy – will continue to be displayed by all people as our global community continues to move forward through challenging and changing times.

JON CAMPBELL, Carinity CEO
