A message from CEO on our 75th anniversary

Celebrating a 75th anniversary is a special time for an organisation. It is a time to reflect on the past, celebrate current achievements, and to work hard so that our legacy continues well into the future.

While we will do all these things during our diamond anniversary year, we do not wish to lose sight of the impact that Carinity has been able to have on individual lives. So as part of our celebrations, we have sought to hear directly from those we serve about the positive impact Carinity has had on their lives.

These stories are important because they are a vital tool in reminding us that, while much has changed, there remains a strong link between why Carinity began 75 years ago and what we do today.

Our purpose is strong and enduring.

In 1949, a group of committed Christians were motivated to raise 3,500 pounds to establish our first aged care home because they had genuine concerns about the wellbeing of elderly people within their community. They were called to act because they wanted to make a real difference.

Some 75 years later, this Christian commitment to serving vulnerable people remains at the centre of everything Carinity does. We exist to walk with people in their time of need, providing them love, support, kindness and understanding.

While each story in this book is the account of a single person, collectively they tell a powerful story about the real difference that Carinity continues making to people’s lives.

I thank you for the role you have played in making Carinity the organisation it is today. We have accomplished so much over the past 75 years, and there is plenty more work still to do. I look forward to sharing more stories about Carinity’s impact well into the future.
