Carinity Education – Southside students bring sand art to the city
Dunwich artist Craig Tapp’s latest exhibition ‘Mother Earth Coming Together for all the Children’ Bujang Jarah Bulkari Taco Jahjum Nu features images of artwork by Carinity Education – Southside students.
Led by Tapp, a descendant of the Indigenous people of the Moreton Bay Region, the students learnt how to integrate the ephemeral sand art with traditional and contemporary aspects of Aboriginal culture.
Tapp’s artwork is also on show at the exhibition, along with images of the sand art created by students from a Cleveland school.
The exhibition is at the Woolloongabba Art Gallery, 613 Stanley Road, Woolloongabba until 9 November and will be showcased again at the Cleveland Library from 10 – 24 February 2014.
